One of my customers was understandibly upset last week because his product was retained at customs and he was charged a fee to have it released. To add insult to injury his partner ordered another similarly priced product from my shop and did not incur any import tax.
So not only does this add an extra week of "shipping time" until it all gets sorted out but of course the customer might not expect this to happen.
Today another customer complained about the unforeseen cost of import tax. The costs are absurd like 50% of the product.
How do you deal with this when you export worldwide? What is the best practice to either avoid them or manage expectations? How does amazon get to avoid this?
