How helpful is blogging for your site?

I’ve been wondering if should try to write some blogs for my site which sells biodegradable cell phone covers. It just seems odd to me I guess. I feel like most sites I would buy something from don’t also have a blog…

I’d appreciate some feedback from people who (clearly) know more than I do!
