How important is getting SAQ A PCI from braintree?

To get SAQ A for braintree, we have to use their "hosted fields". These are little of a pain in the ass to work with compared to just building out own credit card form.

Even with out own custom form, we're not sending CC data to our own servers and not storing any card information in our own database… the card data goes from the credit card form on our checkout page to braintree who gives us back the payment nonce/token.

They mention that we need to use their hosted fields (basically a form in an iframe that is hosted by braintree) to get SAQ A, but there is no explanation of what happens if we don't get SAQ A.

Is anyone aware of what happens if you don't get SAQ A? I'd prefer just build the form ourselves (same way you would do it with stripe).
