It's election season and it's a time for high tensions. But that also gives many of us fun new creative ideas on how to either show support or dislike or parody or do whatever else with politicians' campaign materials. Question is, are their logos and whatever else copyrighted just like any other work, or does their fame and their running for public office make them a sort of public figure with some sort of exemption for that?
For example, suppose you used Trump or Biden's text, and then added something to it. No-go, or completely fine? I'm not sure where the line gets drawn with this kind of thing. Fair use seems to include satire or commentary or whatever, but how far does that go with using a campaign logo design?
