Has anyone here A/B tested directly selling their products through their ads vs. creating an ad offering free info, community, or value to bring people into the funnel and then them naturally purchasing products from sticking around?

Ex. advertising a free reddit community, or a free encyclopedia page for their needs, and then as they use those things, the brand stays in their awareness, and eventually they're more likely to make the jump to buy high-ticket products offered within those pages just by being around and having those needs
