I have read you can sell through Instagram by using #dm me to buy, how does it work and has anyone tried it?

I read an article claiming you can use #dm me to buy to get consumers to buy through your Instagram account rather than using the Instagram Marketplace. I would like to sell my items though Instagram and possibly Poshmark while my site gets fixed and I can start to sell my items. Has anyone done it and how does it work when a consumer dms you that they would like to order the desired item?
