Remote Seller, Nexus Threshold

Hello, as seen in the title I have a question regarding the thresholds for economic nexus law. It is my understanding that I do not collect a sales tax on an item until I have reached a threshold in a state where I am a remote seller. For example, Alabama has a threshold of $250,000. I would not collect a sales tax for sales online in Alabama until I have reached that threshold. Once I reach that threshold, I apply for a sales tax permit in Alabama, begin collecting sales tax and then distribute money to Alabama’s department of revenue. Is this all correct?
