Selling Without a SSN

It seems more and more sites, such as eBay and Amazon, now require even individual sellers to give up their SSN. I am unwilling to do this; what are my best alternatives? Do any sites permit sales without a SSN at this point? I am an individual selling items I find in my basement; I am not a business.
