Need help with determining how much to pay a manufacturer

I want to start a direct-to-consumer furniture ecommerce brand.

From my research I’ve learned that modern manufacturing is about deciding what your price is and then figuring out what you need to do to meet that price point.Factories will ask what you're willing to pay for it and they'll then try to figure out if they can make that happen or not.

I want to base my price on perceived value and what customers are willing to pay for it. I think that will be 299 euro (this is included with 21% VAT and shipping).

To decide how my I can pay a manufacturer to make the product, I will need to decide how much markup I want to have. I don’t have a good sense on this, therefore I don’t have the right information when it comes to communicating with manufacturers. I don’t want to be taken for a ride obviously.

My question: what is considered normal for this type of product and industry? Should the selling price be 100% markup? 200%? 300%?

The manufacturers are based in my country. The products are made to order.

This way I can figure out how much I can afford to pay a manufacturer. Thanks in advance.
