Afterpay will start doing “Soft credit checks” on shoppers. Will you switch?

Received an email today from Afterpay with the following message:

“On March 7th, 2022, we’ll begin using consumer reports to conduct “soft credit checks” for new US customers who sign up for Afterpay. These checks will be used to personalize initial spending amounts for each new Afterpay customer on your site – helping to create a financially healthy customer base for your business. All existing US customers, and all customers outside the US, will not be affected.”

I’ve been using Afterpay for my online store for a few years and haven’t had any problems. I would switch to Shopify Installments completely but it requires a $50 minimum purchase so I’m not sure what I’m going to do.

I don’t want to end up in a scenario where one of my customers gets their credit dinged and gets pissed at my business for it. What’s everyone’s thoughts or plans with this news?
