Profit margin needed for a very large product

Hello everyone!

I want to build a brand around a product that is very voluminous (about the size of a microwave). And as the shipping prices have 6x-ed since last year, I'm trying to figure out if it's feasible to turn a profit by selling this product. The factory price is about $5 and I can sell it for about $40. But since I can only fit 1000 pieces in a 40' container, the transportation alone would cost me $15/piece. Basically the shipping price is about 3x of what I pay for the product, that is if I import a full container.

My question is, how likely is it to still be able to turn a profit if the total COG comes to be about 50% of the retail price for this product?

Can I still afford to market it with that kind of margin? One good thing about this product is that it's a subscription based product so that would increase the customer lifetime value significantly.
