Establishing KPIs for Ecomm Store

Hi! When you’re establishing your KPIs for an e-commerce store (i.e. Conversion Rate, Abandoned Cart Rate, AOV, etc.), how do you handle benchmarking?

For example, do you look at the average for each quarter of the previous year and then use those averages as benchmarks for the quarters of the current year? Or is there an alternative/more sophisticated way to set your own benchmarks for improvement?

Also, what percentage of improvement seems realistic? Is there a percentage to shoot for or does it vary by store? Thank you!!
