Classifying Users based on Orders

I own an internet store where I sell clothes and other goods. In this store, based on statistics, I display several messages on the page, such as "Best Rated Products," "Top 3 Products," and many others.

Would it be a good idea to divide users into groups according to the purchases they made on the website?

I'm talking about selecting the top 10 users who purchased the most and showing them additional messages according to their purchases.

Behavioral science might be used as the basis for messages.

Would this trigger user buy more based on his historic orders?

Could anyone tell me if any store implemented this idea?

Or maybe is a study case about this one
