Have a good domain name. .COM is take .CA is available. Would you still register?

So we are launching an e-commerce site. We have an established brand but will be rebranding and I want to register

It’s parked with GoDaddy and not in use. Requires a broker just to talk to the owner. I am not interested.

Our site is very location based. (West coast of BC in Canada) So I am not opposed to using .CA although ideally I would have both.

Does anyone have experience with this situation where you still registered one? It’s not just missed visits I worry about it’s about any future malicious use of the .COM to make me purchase later. Maybe I just answered my own question.
