Is there any hope competing with Amazon stores undercutting my prices?

My business model aims to avoid products sold on Amazon so I’m not racing towards the bottom of zero margins along with them. The problem is, a product I was planning to launch on my Shopify store (with better sales, marketing & PR) has gone on sale on Amazon for significantly less.

Should I just abandon this product, or do you think I can charge more and still make sales? I’m just one of this particular supplier’s retailers. I’m worried that if I do a great job advertising and selling the product, customers will just go to Amazon and buy it for less. It’s like working at RadioShack with a Walmart across the street all over again.

Has anyone experienced this first hand?
