Need brainpower to figure out how to properly do product feed imports for a custom Laravel application

Hey all,

Not sure if this is the right spot but I'll give it a go:
I'm currently working on a custom Laravel ecommerce application (multi-vendor marketplace) and I want to be able to let vendors import products from their existing shop. Currently I only offer imports from Big Cartel and Etsy, but I would like to have platforms like WooCommerce, Shopify etc. Facebook/Instagram have the same approach and I would like to somehow mimic that.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to efficiently do imports. The current flow is this:
– Get items from feed url and write to database
– Trigger script to process the import records. Processing means creating new product records when they do not yet exist, updating product records that have been changed or deleting product records that have no corresponding import record.

The functionality is sort of there, but my worry is that I'm probably overthinking it and that it could be made more efficient.

Anyone that can steer me in the right direction? Or possibly link to an article that explains the process?
